William Browning is a Mississippi-based journalist who has reported across the entirety of the United States—the American West, the East Coast, the Great Plains and his native South. His work has appeared in The Oxford American, Country Roads, Smithsonian Magazine, The Paris Review Daily, Guideposts Magazine, Columbia Journalism Review and other regional and national publications.

William was named the 2024 Baird Fellow whie pursuing a master’s degree in history at the University of Southern Mississippi. He was the recipient of the Mississippi Arts Commission’s Literary Artist Fellowship for Non-Fiction in 2022.
