Ep. 1: A Body on the Tracks

Before sunrise on Feb. 10, 1932, a freight train ran over a man on the New Orleans & Northeastern Railroad tracks near downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When authorities learned the man’s identity, residents all over Mississippi were shocked. A subsequent investigation led to three murder trials that involved some of the state’s most powerful attorneys, the Attorney General and the state Supreme Court. To this day, the case remains a mystery.
